What could be better than being a zombie for Halloween? Possibly the easiest costume ever (raggedy clothes, some light make-up, some fake blood, a limp, and a hunger for brains), it’s not wonder it’s been a seasonal favorite for 40 years. That’s right, I’m putting a number on it because this year is the 40th anniversary of George A. Romero’s NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD!
To celebrate this momentous occasion, the Sitges Film Festival has organized the EASTPAK ZOMBIE WALK, a collaborated ‘parade of zombies’ walking from one end of town to the other–just you and the hundreds of other zombies in attendance. How cool is that?
Romero will even be there, firing the starting gun at the beginning of the walk. Man, I can’t even imagine the good time that is about to unfold at Sitges this year–it’s gonna be crazy!
So if you’re at Sitges on October 10th, at around 7pm, then maybe you should consider being a zombie. If you do, here are the basic guidelines one should follow to participate in the event:
1. First of all, remember you are not alive, so your appearance needs to reflect it.
2. Keep in mind all of a zombie’s good manners: grunts, groans, whines, even howling (if you’re a werewolf zombie) are essential. “Good zombies don’t break windows”.
3. Don’t forget to soak your body in blood: in your mouth, on your neck… and if it’s someone else’s blood, much better.
4. Walk like a real zombie, dragging your legs and begging for brains.
5. Follow our guides and don’t stray off, the big feast comes at the end of the walk.
6. At 19:00 George A. Romero will fire the starting gun. Stand behind him and don’t touch him.
7. If you don’t come zombiefied go straight to the Brigadoon zone (Miramar Building) and our expert makeup artists will turn you into a genuine zombie starting at 12:00 noon.
8. Once the walk reaches the beach, the party will continue at the best zombie concert from the land of the living dead.
