Grint is a Hitman

It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of flicks about hitmen. I’ve expressed my love for the sub-genre various times in the past, and here I am again telling you all about a new hitman flick on this slow news night.

This flick is called WILD TARGET and stars Bill Nighy and genre mainstay Helena Bonham Carter. Today Cinema Blend is telling us all that HARRY POTTER guy Rupert Grint (right) will also be joining the flick about a middle-aged hitman trying to pull off one more job before he retires. In the process, a beautiful thief may change his plans and he runs into a delivery boy, who he can’t bring himself to kill. So rather than wipe him out, he takes the kid on as an apprentice and teaches him to kill people until things go awry and a gangster sends another hitman to kill them. Nighy will play the hitman, Grint will be the delivery boy, and I’m going to go ahead and assume Carter will be the beautiful thief.

Sounds familiar? Of course it does. It’s bascially the Jean Reno and Natalie Portman (below) starring LEON: THE PROFESSIONAL. Now LEON was a phenomenal movie, great all around. For some reason I don’t think WILD TARGET will meet the same fate… but alas, I’ll keep my hopes up.

WILD TARGET comes from director Jonathan Lynn with a script by Lucinda Coxon. Emily Blunt is also rumored to star with a March 2009 release date being eyed. If WILD TARGET turns out to be a nice gritty hitman flick right down our alley, we’ll keep you updated.
