Everyone with an imagination has to be looking forward to a movie about killer piranhas during Spring Break… all shot in glorious 3D. In fact, I don’t think there are many people out there who aren’t, at least a little bit, totally excited for PIRANHA 3D to come out!
But the way for next summer may be a bit longer than originally thought. According to STYD, principal photography isn’t scheduled to start filming until March of April of 2009… a bit step back from the original prospect of starting this fall.
Why the delay? To give pre-production more time to prepare. Apparently director Alexandre Aja’s vision is so vast that they simply need more time to prepare–we’re talkin’ 3D here people, nothing to f*ck around with!
While it’s a bummer that the original July 24th release date will likely be pushed back, if it means the final product will be better in the end, then I say let us wait! And hell, maybe it’ll be a better fall movie than a summer movie anyway.
