If you are one of the six people who have NOT seen THE DARK KNIGHT and you live by an IMAX theater, then you just got enough good news to make 2009 the year for you!
What am I talking about? Warner Bros. announced today that they will be releasing TDK again in January to IMAX theaters across the country as a reminder for people–remember, January is the height of the Academy Awards movie season.
Yes, they may release the flick in conventional theaters, but for now–the rerelease is strictly in IMAX. While it doesn’t look like it’ll be breaking TITANIC’s record for the biggest money making movie of all time right now… with it being rereleased in January, I’d say that goal is definitely obtainable.
As far as Academy Awards go, Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker will be getting a Best Actor or Supporting Actor nod–no doubt in my mind. And since he’s passed, he’ll likely win. But hey, WB wants to shoot for more awards than that? Then by all means release the flick again!
No specific date has been set as to the rerelease–we’ll keep you posted.
