I thought I’ve heard it all, I thought that no storyline would surprise me or make me scratch my head and wonder “what the f*ck is this???”, but apparently I thought too soon. We got a heads up over the weekend from Chilean movie director Francesc Morales about his latest flick HUMANIMAL, and as I learned more about the project, the more I had to wonder… what the f*ck???
First off, the overall plot / storyline: HUMANIMAL tells the story of two animals, the clumsy Turtle and the intelligent Fox. They live locked in a house and have a stormy relationship that is intensified when both of them fall in love with Cat, who is interested in whom incorporate human habits. It is a story that has very innocent beginning, but as it progresses it becomes intensifies until it explodes. And like every fable story, it has an important lesson at the end.
If that wasn’t impressive or bizarre enough for you, then listen to this: the film features absolutely no dialogue! That’s right, not one word is spoken throughout the entire movie… and you’ve thought you’ve seen bizarre! With a storyline like the one above, how the hell is anyone going to know what’s going on without some talking to explain everything? I just don’t know….
Anyway, HUMANIMAL stars Chilean film stars Ramón Llao, Jenny
Cavallo, and Sebastian Layseca–all wearing animal suits throughout the entire film. As you can tell from this first batch of images, we’re not talking giant ‘mascot’ size animal suits–which is a good thing, as that would have propelled this film to a whole new level of strangeness if they were.
The new images are dark, but besides featuring the characters from the movie, they don’t reveal too much, as everything in the background is black… very interesting.
