“Everybody’s Mister Mafia. Ha! The Don! The Don of Douchebags, that’s what you are.” Recognize that quote? If not, then you’ve probably never seen the aptly titled b-flick STREET TRASH where the only memorable performance came from the man who delivered that particular quote: James Lorinz (above). You’ve heard of him, right? Come on! Didn’t you see FRANKENHOOKER, his star-making turn as the doctor who “reassembles” his recently departed fiancée out of dead hooker parts?! Well, needless to say, Mr. Lorinz has certainly left his mark on our genre with his signature, New-Yawk-style delivery and nothing-is-sacred attitude. He stepped away from our genre for some time, but now I am proud to report, he’s back!
It was just announced that Mr. Lorinz will be taking on a “major role” in the upcoming film THE ETERNAL. The flick is based on a short called ENDING THE ETERNAL and will be directed by Justin McConnell who also helmed the original. Here’s what he had to say, regarding the casting of the man who made a “Frankenhooker”: “Lorinz was my first choice for the character; it was tailored for him. His performance in FRANKHOOKER is so acclaimed for a reason.”
Here’s a look at THE ETERNAL’s plot: Samuel Gradius has lived too long. In his 500 years on earth he has seen empires rise and fall, changed the course of history with his bare hands and experienced countless revolutions first hand. Samuel Gradius is a vampire, perhaps the only vampire, and he’s had enough. He wants to die.
No longer content with the idea of simple suicide, he makes the decision to go out in the ways of old. He wants a warrior’s death. THE ETERNAL follows Samuel on the pursuit of his own personal oblivion, he hopes, at the hands of someone worthy.
Well, I’ve gotta say that does sound pretty bad ass. I wonder who Lorinz will be playing. THE ETERNAL is currently in pre-production, but I’m betting we’ll hear some more casting news soon. I’ll keep an eye out. For more info, you can check out the official website here.
