For Clive Barker fans still pissed off at the f*cked up way Lionsgate has handled MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, then prepare to be excited again, as another Barker adaptation is headed our way–and soon!
BOOK OF BLOOD, one of the main stories in Barker’s anthology of horror stories in THE BOOKS OF BLOOD (where the original story of MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN resides), is headed for the big screen from director John Harrison. Harrison recently sat down and chatted with iFMagazine about the project, and he had some pretty interesting things to say.
For instance, you may want to know how gory the film is ( It has its moments, but it is not a gore-fest.), how close is it to Barker’s original story (Plenty faithful, I hope. We took the book-end stories from his collection, BOOK OF BLOOD and ON JERUSALEM STREET, and merged them into one story. As with any adaptation, there are details that must be adjusted and often changed somewhat, but I have always tried to honor the essence of the source material. ), and when is the film expected to be complete (We are finishing BOOK OF BLOOD in London as I write this, and I expect it will be released in early ’09. I’m really proud of it. )?

Depending on the when, it would be going up against MY BLOODY VALENTINE 3D and FRIDAY THE 13TH, which may (or may not) be a smart move. Then again, it could be the next MEAT TRAIN, and even a year from now, we won’t see it (theatrical or otherwise).
