Some movies I can see Walt Disney Pictures tackling… a movie about giant monsters regularly attacking an island in the Pacific ocean is not one of them. But another day goes by, another news story totally amazes me…
Disney has just snagged the film rights to the graphic novel MONSTER ATTACK NETWORK. Originally published by AIT and Planet Lar and written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman with art from Nima Sorat, MONSTER is set on a South Pacific island where a team of first-responders rescue residents are regularly attacked by giant monsters who emerge from the sea.
This actually sounds pretty awesome, and with WANTED producer Jason Netter on board, I think this may be in very good hands… except for the fact that it’s gonna be a Disney movie. Then again, they never said if it was going to be distributed through Touchstone or some other distribution company owned by Disney that doesn’t have the Disney name attached to it, so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see where this beast ends up.
Monster movies can be a lot of fun, and with today’s effects, it can be even funner… let’s just hope this doesn’t wuss out and become some sort of kiddie family film.
