Another day, another remake, at least this time it’s of a Danish film that not only have I never heard of before, but that I haven’t seen either, so really… it’s not like a remake at all!
Danish director Nikolaj Arcel has just been snagged by Universal Pictures to remake 2007’s DE FORTABTE SJAELES O, or known in it’s remade version as ISLAND OF LOST SOULS. Arcel directed and co-wrote the original flick, so least to say he has some experience with the material. The remake will be written by Jennifer O’Kieffe.
So what’s LOST SOULS all about? Check it: a suburban teen finds herself a central player in a centuries-old battle between good and evil when her younger brother is possessed by the benevolent spirit of an 18th century magician.
Benevolent spirits? Possessions? Battle of good vs. evil? Sounds like a good time to me! This could end up being more on the ‘adventure’ side than of ‘horror,’ but you throw in the above elements into one project, and there’s bound to be some overlap.
Now that a director’s on board, we just have to wait for the cast to come on board as well… so stick around for more announcements on ISLAND OF LOST SOULS as we hear it!
