New Piranha scribes hired

Even though, to my knowledge, PIRANHA has had a handful of writers tap away on its behalf, it would seem as though the screenplay just isn’t ready yet. So The Weinstein Company has brought in Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton to work on it. You’ll recognize those two names because it seems like they’re working on 50% of the horror movies that hit the screen nowadays: most notably the latest SAW and FEAST films, not to mention the remake of HELLRAISER, although don’t ask me to care about that flick now that Julian Maury and Alexandre Bustillo have been kicked off it (I just watched INSIDE again; damn how perfect are those guys for HELLRAISER?!)

Of course, Alex Aja is at the helm of PIRANHA, which will be released in 3D next June. I’m guessing it will be the horror flick to beat next year, at least in terms of anticipation. I mean, c’mon, how much cooler does it get than babes in bikini’s getting nibbled on by killer fish – in 3D?!

(And no, that’s not a poster for the flick. It’s a mock-poster for a proposed sequel to PIRANHA 2. Check out this old article I wrote about it. )

Do I have any piranha bites on my ass?
