According to Variety, Screen Gems just picked up the script THE ROOMMATE from writer Sonny Mallhi, an updated version of SINGLE WHITE FEMALE for the modern college crowd.
Like FEAR was to FATAL ATTRACTION, THE ROOMMATE tells of a similar story… The story centers on Sara, a college student randomly assigned to a freshman dorm with a stranger named Rebecca. They start off as friends but things turn deadly as Rebecca begins to target people in Sara’s life.
In comes the look-a-like contest and stiletto heel death sequences… it doesn’t get any creepier than that! The overall premise sounds cool, and since SINGLE WHITE FEMALE is pretty dated, I suppose it was up for a revamp, even if in a slightly different form.
