Creatures take over!

“Damn you dirty CREATURES! Damn you all to hell!” Sorry about that. I was just getting in the proper mood for the theme of this next article. Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, the writers of the sexy/slammin’ Angelina Jolie (above) vehicle WANTED (opening today), have drafted a new script for Sony and producer Neal Moritz called ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL. Have a look at the premise:

It’s set in a world where the animals control the planet and humans are the minority. Because of people’s inability to quench their thirst for oil and consumption of resources, we basically ruin the planet, and the planet fights back. And part of that is the quick evolution of many of the animals.

Brandt calls the concept a “big, fun, fantastic ‘JURASSIC PARK’-type movie.” I’m cool with that. I mean, WANTED looks like loads of rapid-fire, action-packed fun. I think that Brandt and Haas (who also wrote 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS and 3:10 TO YUMA) would be able to spin some pretty crazy animal-infused set pieces with CREATURES. Check out some additional details of the script that Brandt revealed:

“CREATURES takes place in North America, where people are literally living in forts, and the animals are running free. It’s not like dogs and cats are killing people, it’s that the strong have survived. Lions and bears and animals like that have all evolved, and they’re slowly eating away at the human population.”

Well, the more I hear about this, the more I dig it! No word yet on a director or start date, but I’m guessing the word will be released into the wild soon. Stay tuned.
