Hammer Films are doing a good job of keeping their films unique. With stuff like BEYOND THE RAVE and the LET THE RIGHT ONE IN remake.

Well today Variety dropped word on the next three films on Hammer’s slate. THE WAKE WOOD, THE RESIDENT, and THE QUIET ONES.

The only info we have on THE WAKE WOOD is that it’s directed by David Keating. THE RESIDENT is described as a chiller that’s along the lines of THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE. That’s directed by Antti Jokinen. And lastly, THE QUIET ONES is based on a supposedly true story of a group of Canadian hippie scientists in the 1970s who attempt to create a ghost.

Chief executive of Hammer Simon Oakes had the following to say:

“Those earlier Hammer films were very much of their time, and there is a lot of affection for them, but we have to keep up with audiences’ expectations today. I like to think of ourselves now as dealing more in the Hitchcockian areas of terror and suspense.”

The article over at Variety goes more in depth to what type of horror Hammer are aiming for over in the UK. All sounds good to me. We’ll keep you updated once we hear more on any of these projects.

Jennifer Carpenter starred in THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE.
