Cruel silent b&w

Wow, we’ve actually got something brand new (yet old) in an upcoming genre flick. How does this grab ya: A black-and-white, silent horror film. Yup, that’s the manner in which writer/director Duane P.Craig is delivering CRUEL from Knight Entertainment and Smokin’ Gnome productions. We’re traveling back to the time of NOSFERATU and THE CABINET OF DR. CALIGARI and I say, why not? I applaud Mr. Craig’s move and I’m even digging the plot (I just hope he’s able to pull it off). Observe:

An axe murderer dispatches the people responsible for wrongs done to a young, mute stricken girl – each murder done in front of the girl as a form of shock therapy for her condition. At the same time, the young girl’s father races to find her.

Sounds like there’s room for some fun, f*cked-up shite… only without sounds. The idea that we will be experiencing the same muteness as the young girl’s character is brilliant. You can check out the quiet teaser trailer below.

CRUEL stars Donald Meyers, Jon W. Sparks, and Arnita Williams. It’s set to release on DVD some time in 2008. As soon as a precise date is confirmed, I’ll let you know.
