Messengers 2 cast

Last month, Jared gave us some interesting details on the upcoming boo-fest THE MESSENGERS 2 (check it out here.) The buzz on this sequel (actually, I believe it’s a prequel) is surprisingly positive, considering the first one was basically mediocre at best. Don’t get me wrong, the flick did have a couple of nicely stylish touches and some eerie images, just not enough to file it under the “Great PG-13 Horror” label where THE SIXTH SENSE and THE RING reside. It was rumored that the script for part 2 featured some pretty intense shite that will most likely get trimmed to avoid the blasphemous ‘R’. Nonetheless, those MESSENGERS are returning and some cast members have just been announced:

Those receiving the “hired” message are Claire Holt, Norman Reedus (MASTERS OF HORROR: CIGARETTE BURNS), Michael McCoy (DAY OF THE DEAD, WICKED LITTLE THINGS), and Erbi Ago. Nothing has yet been said on who any of those peeps are playing. And though the prequel revolves around the circumstances that caused John Corbet’s character (John Rollins) to go insane, there is no word yet on whether he’ll return. I doubt we will be seeing him, though.

I actually thought the scenes involving the Rollins family (which acted as the prologue for THE MESSENGERS) were the best part of the movie, so perhaps there is hope for this prequel rocking. No release date as of yet, but here’s the flick’s synopsis:

John Rollins struggles to save his farm and hold his family together. After placing a mysterious scarecrow in his field his luck seems to change for the better, but in return may cost his sanity.

Kristen Stewart won’t be back for MESSENGERS 2.
