I’m a big fan of Timothy Olyphant. I’ve loved almost everything he’s been in. One role I wasn’t down for was Olyphant as Agent 47 in HITMAN. Agent 47 is just a very unique character and Olyphant didn’t fit the mold in my opinion. Regardless HITMAN was a fun ride.
Well a couple months ago Eric dropped some VERY good news. That news being that Olyphant would be returning to his calling, the role of the ruthless asshole bad guy. Oh how everything falls into place.
I’m talking about David Twohy’s THE PERFECT GETAWAY. The movie centers on two newlyweds on their honeymoon in Hawaii who run into two hikers who turn out to be vicious killers. Needless to say Olyphant will be playing one of those vicious killers… Score! Considering one of my favorite Olyphant roles was Mickey in SCREAM 2, this was great news to me.
The Hollywood Reporter has some more casting news for THE PERFECT GETAWAY today. Steve Zahn has joined the cast as one half of the newlyweds. Zahn’s got a very wide range when it comes to the roles he’s tackled. He can be the hilarious sidekick or he can hold down a serious sidekick role. Zahn (above) is yet to have that breakout starring role, but in my opinion he’d nail a solo try.
Zahn’s had a taste of the genre with JOY RIDE and can definately hold his own in a serious flick, which he proved in RESCUE DAWN.
So far some great casting set up for THE PERFECT GETAWAY, now they just have to score another ruthless bastard and a smoking hottie and I’m sold! David Twohy will be writing and directing. Production is set to start March 31 in Puerto Rico and Hawaii.
