David Koepp, who gave us the brilliantly underrated STIR OF ECHOES and the lackluster SECRET WINDOW, is bring us a new kind of flick this fall: the romantic horror ghost story. Say what???
GHOST TOWN (which we told you about HERE) tells the story of a dude who almost dies during dental surgery, only to come back with the ability to see and talk to the dead, i.e., ghosts.
If it sounds like THE FRIGHTENERS to you, then wait–there’s more. One of the ghosts tries to use the dude to try and stop his wife (now ex-wife) from getting married. Hence, the romantic comedy angle. See… it’s even more like THE FRIGHTENERS than you thought!
The flick stars Ricky Gervais, Greg Kinnear, Kristen Wiig, Tea Leoni and Dana Ivey, and will be released September 19th, 2008. Ah September… the new and improved ‘dump month.’ Or maybe this flick is the one to watch out for? Judging from the new image from the flick above, I’m leaning towards ‘dump month special,’ but that could be because ghost story rom com’s like this don’t float my boat. But I will say this: Tea Leoni is hot, and may be worht the price of admission alone!
