Rolston in Saw V

Is it me, or is the upcoming SAW V like the neglected red headed step child that exists somewhere at home, but nobody really cares about? Maybe because the SAW flicks have been hitting every October for the past 4 years, and has been all about money after SAW III, which should have ended the whole franchise. So with a new director in the ring, does anyone really care about SAW V?

Lionsgate sure likes to think so, otherwise they wouldn’t have greenlit yet another installment shooting for the same, traditional Halloween weekend. I say SAW V is feeling neglected, as it’s supposed to be filmed, cut, and ready to be released in just over 7 months, and we really haven’t heard squat about it… until today.

According to Official SAW News, actor Mark Rolston (one of the badass marines in ALIENS) has just been cast in the flick, though his role has not been revealed. David Hackl is the new kat on board directing this bad boy, and from all accounts, he’s going to be trying like hell to make this like FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 6; JASON LIVES.

What the flock do you mean by that, you ask? After FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 4: THE FINAL CHAPTER (which wrapped up the series nicely, much like SAW III), the series was basically over; then they released the forgettable PART 5: THE NEW BEGINNING (like SAW IV), but then JASON LIVES hit and breathed new life into the series–that movie f*cking rocked!

So let’s hope SAW V is like JASON LIVES in that respect. To check out the full scoop, click HERE, and get ready for more news to come flooding in soon, as filming begins in Toronto on St. Patty’s Day (March 17th).
