The Hollywood Reporter announced this morning that Alexander Skarsgard has joined the cast of TRUE BLOOD, the upcoming HBO series based on the “Southern Vampire” book series by Charlaine Harris.
Skarsgard will play a vampire, who’s also a Viking, who has been alive for thousands of years. Kind of like a Highlander, except… well, he’s a vampire, so he drinks people’s blood to stay alive. But besides that, he’s almost like a Highlander…
TRUE BLOOD already stars Stephen Moyer and the weirdly hot Anna Paquin as the series’ main characters, as the overall premise is that of a love story between a vampire (Moyer) and a mind-reading waitress (Paquin).
The series was created by Alan Ball, who was also behind HBO’s SIX FEET UNDER — a show I haven’t seen, but know many, many people who feel that it’s the shiz-nit. If he can make a vampire/mind-reader love show the shiz-nit, then I’m all for checking this beast out.
A few episodes are already in the can, though no word on when the series is set to premiere – stick around for more info on TRUE BLOOD as we hear it!
