No, I’m not talking about the video game, I think. And I’m not talking about the potential third movie, I think… Actually I don’t know what the new GHOSTBUSTERS is going to be… but it’s going to be.
Confused/Intrigued? I think that’s the point. /Film are reporting on a banner at WonderCon in San Francisco, a banner that brandishes the GHOSTBUSTERS logo with the following statement:
“Something exciting is coming to the neighborhood! Look for the big announcement at Comic Con San Diego 2008.”
Oh you tease. Now it’s highly doubtful that this announcement pertains to the video game, since all the info on that has been around for a while now. Could it be the third movie? The chances of that coming have been seesawing back and forth. With Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson refusing to say it’s dead, while the man who directed the first 2 GHOSTBUSTERS, Ivan Reitman, says there’s no chance that’s happening. Now sure, Reitman’s recent denial of GHOSTBUSTERS 3 coming soon might just be a red herring, but who knows.
/Film point out that the announcement could possibly be on a GHOSTBUSTERS CGI film, citing the following quote from Aykroyd:
“I wrote a script called Hell Bent, Ghostbusters go to hell basically. The premise is that it’s Manhellton. There’s Manhattan and ManHELLton. And if you can build an inter-dimensional phase system so that you can go from one dimension to another. We’ve succeeded doing that and we go to the hell side. Downtown, Folley Square – where the cops are, they’re all blue minotaurs. Central Park is this huge deep mine, green demons there, surrounded by black onyx thousand foot high apartment buildings with classic red devils. Very wealthy. And we go visit a Donald Trump like character – Mr. Siffler. Lou Siffler, Lucifer. So I will say we meet the devil in it. It won’t happen as a live action because Billy [Murray] won’t come on to the live action but he will voice his part, as a CGI animated project. With CGI, and animation, the way these cartoons are done, we can do everything I wrote in that script for a lot less money.”
Or maybe we’ll be gettiing a revamped version of the TV cartoon ala TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES? One things for sure… we’ll all know what the hell is going on come Comic Con.

Sigourney Weaver – still sexy.
