Peacock gets 2

There’s a psychological thriller coming our way from Mandate Pictures called PEACOCK.

No, it’s not about that cool bird with the trippy feathers, instead it’s set in the small town of Peacock, Neb., where a man with a split personality fools the town into believing that his two alter-egos are man and wife. Along the way there’s a struggling young mother who sparks a battle between the personalities.

That sounds… interesting right? Well The Hollywood Reporter dropped the news on who the two leads will be, and just these names alone make this flick stand out. Cillian Murphy (above) will be playing the dude with the split personalities while Ellen Page (below) will be playing the struggiling young mother. Score!

I think it’s very safe to say that Murphy and Page are phenomenal. And with those two actors tackiling those two roles, I think we’re in for something great. Especially seeing Cillian Murphy as a split personality, a performance I already can’t wait to see.

Murphy is no stranger to the genre, starring in flicks like: 28 DAYS LATER, RED EYE, BATMAN BEGINS, and SUNSHINE. Not to mention THE DARK KNIGHT. And Ellen Page starred in the shocker HARD CANDY, which she was great in. Now after her success with JUNO, it looks like she’s coming back to the genre with PEACOCK and her recently joining Sam Raimi’s DRAG ME TO HELL.

PEACOCK is shaping up to be something big. Plus it’s coming from MUNICH producer Barry Mendel. The only curveball is Michael Lander, who’s making his directorial debut with PEACOCK. Lander is relatively unknown, but with those two stars, how can he do wrong? Mandate Pictures’ Nicole Brown and Nathan Kahane will be executive producing. Lander also co-wrote the script with co-producer Ryan Roy.

Acclaim from Murphy and Page about the script has me actually looking forward to seeing what Lander can do. Murphy had the following to say:

” ‘PEACOCK’ stunned me as a script from start to finish. It offers an incredible challenge to an actor — one I couldn’t turn down.”

While Page had this to say:

“This is one of the boldest screenplays I’ve come across in my albeit short career. It’s a character and story I can throw myself into and exactly the type of movie I love to be part of.”

Good stuff! We’ll definately keep you updated on PEACOCK.

The amazing Ellen Page
