Roy Scheider, best known for his role as Chief Brody in the classic monster movie and original summer blockbuster, JAWS (and again in JAWS 2) passed away on Sunday at the age of 75.

Scheider had been battling myeloma for the past two years. Very sad news in the movie world, especially for those who consider JAWS to be one of the best movies ever made. Along with rocking the roll of Chief Brody, Scheider also delivered one of the film’s most memorable lines – “You’re gonna need a bigger boat.”

He also starred in THE FRENCH CONNECTION and ALL THAT JAZZ (receiving Oscar nominations for both), and stepped into a the genre a bit more in DRACULA II, DRACULA III, and 2004’s THE PUNISHER.

We here at AITH send out our condolences to his family, and will remorse the passing of the one who tamed, blew-up, and destroyed the wild beast (twice!). For a deeper biographical look at Scheider’s life, click HERE. Now I think I’m gonna re-watch JAWS in Sheider’s honor…
