Hell will still rise

Last December we hear rumblings that the new HELLRAISER remake would be hitting the screen come this September. Then word on the street was that Dimension Films was going to pull the project entirely, due to the writer’s strike and whatnot – and fans everywhere rejoiced. Well folks, it’s time to get your panties in a bunch, because it looks like HELLRAISER is going to make it to the big screen after all!

While the September date’s out, it won’t be that much longer, as Dimension is planning on releasing CLIVE BARKER PRESENTS: HELLRAISER January 9th, 2009!

Great. A flippin’ January release. Most times, January is seen as a dump month, but with the success of HOSTEL and this year’s RAMBO, I’m thinking this trend may be changing, so it’s not entirely imperative that releasing HELLRAISER in January is a bad sign… but it’s definitely not as great as a release month for a movie like this as, say, October, or even early spring… so I guess we’ll wait and see.

Written and directed by INSIDE duo Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury, the film will be based off the Clive Barker novel ‘The Hellbound Heart,’ and not necessarily Barker’s film version… actually, I think that’s just a way for Dimension to try and sell you that it’s NOT a remake, which it totally is.

Now the big question remains: will they be bringing back Pinhead, and if so, who’s gonna play him??? Stick around as we wait to find out, in the mean time, mark your calendars for the new HELLRAISER, in theaters everywhere January 9th, 2009!
