Back in October there were reports that one hockey masked Jason Voorhees was going to make an appearance on the TV show SUPERNATURAL, over at the new CW. That rumor lasted for about a month, but was later shot down, mostly due to the rights issues of Jason (the man’s an icon, he can’t just show up anywhere).
That was the last we heard on the deal, but IFMagazine had a chance to chat with the show’s executive producer, who shed just a slight new strobe of light onto the details… alluding that the cameo appearance might not be dead in the water. That executive producer? None other than TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS director McG!
It’s a giant surprise in relation that, so you have to stay tuned for that. I can’t even talk about that. That show, we go to such lengths to hold on to the mythology and be respectful of the secrets and twists and turns… it’s going to surprise you.
How’s that for an ambiguous answer to whether Jason will show up on the show or not? The good news here? He didn’t say NO outright, which means the rights issue may not be such an issue anymore. Hmmm… interesting.
I know one thing’s for sure, the show would get a higher rating that week if he did show up. I’ve never sat through a single episode of SUPERNATURAL, but if Jason was promised to show up, I’d definitely tune in to check it out!
