Viggo Mortensen’s wandering pop in THE ROAD finally has a son: 11 year old Kodi Smit-McPhee (pictured), who has also just been cast as a young Logan in WOLVERINE. You may have seen Smit-McPhee in the “Umney’s Last Case” episode of TNT’s NIGHTMARES AND DREAMSCAPES, and the Eric Bana-starrer, ROMULUS, MY FATHER.
The film, which also stars Charlize Theron and Guy Pearce, is based on the Cormac McCarthy novel about a man and son trying to find safety from roving packs of cannibals in a post-apocalyptic nightmare. Great book – I highly recommend you check it out before the screen-adaptation hits (it won a Pulitzer, doncha know?!). THE PROPOSITION’S John Hillcoat is directing.
It appears that the flick will begin shooting next month in Pittsburgh (which certainly has a history with flesh-eaters), with brief stops in Oregon and Louisiana during the eight-week production.
