Way back in the summer we first told you about the announcement that MY BLOODY VALENTINE was set to be the next on the remake chopping list. It was first noted as a rumor, as nothing official had been reporter, but today… it looks like the speculation was true, as it now has a release date all set up and ready to go!
Friday, February 13th 2009, will be the day MY BLOODY VALENTINE will be released unto the world. Considering it’s Valentine’s Day weekend – and it’s Friday the 13th – I’d say that’s just about the perfect time to release this beast. Of course, no creative team, no casting, no nobody has been officially attached to the project, so it should be interesting to see what they can pull off in a year’s time.
According to Box Office MoJo, that particular weekend will be a busy one for us horror fans, as not only is MY BLOODY VALENTINE hitting theaters, but so is THE WOLF MAN (with Benecio del Toro and Emily Blunt), and another little movie called FRIDAY THE 13TH! Two slashers, three remakes, one freakin’ weekend?!? And you thought next year’s Valentine’s Day was gonna suck.
Of course, release dates are all subject to change, but it’s looking like the studios are taking advantage of that date more than normal next year – let’s just hope they can clean their act up and pull something together that’s worth watching. I’m guessing it’ll be PG-13, so it’s competitive with the other flicks that weekend (both shooting for an R rating), but let’s hope I’m wrong. MY BLOODY VALENTINE hits theaters everywhere February 13, 2009.
