If there’s a successful horror flick made in another country other than the United States, expect a remake of it within five years of it’s original release. Case in point is the German made NIGHT OF THE LIVING DORKS, which was just barely released in 2004, and is now being remade, courtesy of Warner Independent.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the U.S. DORKS just scored a director – none other than Michael Showalter. And if you’re scratching your head, wondering just who in the hell Showalter is, let me say one thing: THE BAXTER.
Ok, so I haven’t heard of his first and only other directorial project either, but as the flick starred Elizabeth Banks and Michelle Williams… well, it’s now on my list of flicks to check out!
Not sure if that means he has what it takes to do DORK right, but as it’s a teen comedy with zombies in it, I shouldn’t expect it to be all that difficult. We shall see, oh yes… we shall see.
Stick around for more on the NIGHT OF THE LIVING DORKS remake, as it should be interesting to see who the new cast of DORKS will be. Could there be a role in there somewhere for Elizabeth Banks? I hope so…
