Back in July we got wind of the possibility that a sequel to Adam Green’s HATCHET may actually be in the works. Here we are, some five months later, and that sequel seems to keep coming up!
Green had a chance to chat it up with Fangoria just before th holidays, and had this to say on the subject: I hope to do HATCHET 2. Nice!
Ok, so who wouldn’t want to make a sequel to a killer 80s throwback to the slasher genre? I get that, but he continues to state his ‘demands’ of sorts, if the project is eventually greenlit: It all comes down to when it happens and if I’m available, as well as what the terms are, because often when they make these movies and realize they have a cult following, they try to cheap out in a lot of areas. You know, the budget becomes smaller because they’re afraid that no one really cares or they don’t pay what they need to in order to bring certain actors back.
At least the man has principles! That’s always nice to hear! So while there’s still just talk and speculation about a HATCHET 2, the project is at least still a subject being toyed with – which is always a good thing – nice to know it’s not dead in the water.
