The marketing for THE DARK KNIGHT is not only going the extra mile, it’s going the extra 20+. I don’t remember the last flick that went all out like DARK KNIGHT is, and it’s still not coming out for another 8 1/2 months! So it’s only going to get better from here.
But enough on what we’re going to be seeing, I’m dropping the news to you on what we’re seeing right now. As most know, for the past couple weeks there’s been a pumpkin rotting away over at whysoserious.com, and it ended yesterday at 12:01 AM. What were we waiting for? Maybe what Aaron Eckhart will look like with half of his face mutilated? No. Instead we get another game from Heath Ledger’s Joker. The letter he left instructed people to go on a scavenger hunt in big cities to find the letters above. As you can see, the jumbled letters revealed a note from the masked menace. “The only sensible way to live in this world is without rules.”
After the above was solved, we were treated to a brand new image of The Joker (above) and a sound bit of Ledger saying “Tonight your going to break your one rule.” Nothing groundbreaking, but new pictures of The Joker are always welcome. But this isn’t the end of Joker’s messages, he immediately left us another one:
This is some awesome advertising. So he wants people to paint their face like his and invade famous landmarks. I’m sure this game will end in the next day or so, probably treating us to the pictures people take, as well as another present from The Joker. In case you didn’t know, THE DARK KNIGHT is the sequel to BATMAN BEGINS. It’s directed by Christopher Nolan and written by Nolan, David S. Goyer, and Jonathan Nolan. It stars Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Maggie Gyllenhaal (below), Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, Michael Caine, Anthony Michael Hall, and Aaron Eckhart. It hits theaters July 18, 2008, and I’m sure we’ll have plenty of updates for you before then.
