The folks at Fangoria have themselves a clip from Jonathan Hensleigh’s WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE, the faux-documentary about two couples who go off into the jungle searching for Michael Rockefeller (who really did disappear in 1961 while in New Guinea) and find themselves in a heap of cannibal-based trouble.
The clip is creepy at first, but there’s no getting around the fact that, for me personally, watching handheld, cinema verite-style footage gets old very quickly.
Some people will think “Oh it’s BLAIR WITCH in the jungle” but what it really is is CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST, which came out in 1980 and was THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT in the jungle. Hensleigh has sworn his film is not a remake, nor was it inspired by HOLOCAUST, but most are fairly skeptical.
