Variety is reporting that THE BURROWERS writer JT Petty is set up to write a script based on the Japanese novel, GOTH. For some reason, I’m really digging this news bit. Now I don’t really know much about JT Petty, but GOTH interests me.
GOTH is originally a best selling Japanese novel written by Otsu-ichi, it eventually also became a manga comic (by Kendi Oiwa). The synopsis, according to Variety, is: Described as a gothic love story, the project revolves around two high school teens from opposite sides of the tracks who are forced to come together to take down a serial killer in their hometown.
Sounds a little bit like the indie flick SERIAL KILLING 101 (which I thought was pretty cool). For some more info on GOTH, you can check out the Wiki page here. The novel sounds like it is some pretty dark stuff, and I’m getting the feeling the film isn’t going to go down the same route, but who knows. Below you can check out a couple pictures from the GOTH manga comic. One is pretty damn graphic, that’s some vicious stuff. Let’s hope Petty scribes the flick that way.
