Last week casting news came out of PUNISHER: WAR ZONE, alluding that the revelation of Punisher’s arch-enemy Jigsaw would be happening soon. Is today soon enough for ya?
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Dominic West (the major a-hole in 300) has just landed the role of Jigsaw today, and I must say… I’m stoked on this choice! Sure, it may not be as ‘big’ as John Travolta, but the guy has a knack for playing bad really well… why not let him shine as a comic book villain again?
Wayne Knight (Hello… Newman) has also joined the cast of WAR ZONE, playing Microchip, Punisher’s right hand man when it comes to getting supplies, guns, ammo and inside intel on his enemies. Surprisingly, Knight here is also perfectly cast… although everytime I see that dude, I just think of what a slime ball he is (JURASSIC PARK anyone?). I just hope I’ll be able to see him as a good guy here…
All in all, a fine day of casting for the new PUNISHER. Will WAR ZONE be the mother of all PUNISHER movies? While I have faith in
Ray Stevenson bringing the vigilante to justice, I’m not sure he has a chance of outshining Dolph Lundgren or Thomas Jane, as those are some tough acts to follow… I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. PUNISHER: WAR ZONE begins filming next month in Montreal.
