Gunn’s Pets picked

What do you do after you’ve written (DAWN OF THE DEAD) and directed (SLITHER) a few of the better horror flicks to come out in a while? If you’re James Gunn, you go back a step to your supernatural comedy roots (SCOOBY-DOO & SCOOBY-DOO 2) and write the alien abduction comedy PETS, which was just picked up by New Regency for a fast track to the big screen!

PETS concerns a man abducted by aliens who want to turn him into a household pet. Funny? You bet! Anal probe humor sure to be out in full force! If there isn’t any, I’ll want my money back! Oh, did I just say write? Gunn’s also planning on stepping behind the camera and directing this bad boy as well! From SLITHER to PETS in a blink of an eye…

Seeing as how SLITHER was (more or less) a horror comedy, it makes sense for Gunn to go this route. He definitely knows the genre, and may end up giving us something along the lines of a zom-com, except here it’s a alien-com (yup, I coined the phrase- you saw it here first!). Can you dig it?

PETS has a variety of producers on board (including Ben Stiller), and is scheduled to be distributed by 20th Century Fox. Good luck to Gunn, as he’s a super cool guy who’s as big of a movie geek as anyone I’ve ever met, and now the big question remains: just who will star as the alien abducted PET?
