Anybody who caught THE DESCENT this past weekend would’ve caught the trailer for the upcoming Warner Bros. remake of THE WICKER MAN starring Nicholas Cage. Well today, Warner released another batch of pics from the film, which unfortunately will be rated PG-13 for ‘crappy cop-out remake that can’t compare to the original’. I swear, if you’re going to do a remake, at least do it right, dammit. This remake should probably be buried under the M3 motorway if it turns out to be more cash-in garbage. Man, where’s Iron Maiden when you need ’em?
Okay, I’m done ranting. Anyhoo, the film opens September 1st, and has Cage playing a sheriff who goes to search for his estranged daughter after she mysteriously disappears on the secluded Summerisle island. When he arrives, he senses something more is amiss among the island’s secretive residents as he starts to uncover a mystery involving strange sexual rituals, a harvest festival and possible human sacrifice.
