Action-Figure reports today that the popular Teddy Scares Plush line is set to have it’s own comic created by indie publisher Ape Entertainment. What’s a Teddy Scare, you ask? Well, You know your old teddy bear that you had as a kid that you carried around everywhere, but eventually threw it away or gave it to the dog to chew on? Well, it’s back, but in zombie form!
Created by Applehead Factory, the line of toys were at this year’s Comic-Con showing off the second series of bears, along with the first ever Teddy Scares short film and this comic. The sixty-four page, full colour, digest-sized graphic novel will feature stories from some of today’s brightest up-and-coming horror makers. Potential artists for the comic are encouraged to participate in the Teddy Scares Talent Search at the next big comic convention, Wizard World Chicago (August 3rd-5th). Both Applehead Factory and Ape Entertainment reps will be on hand to review portfolio work for those who think they have the stuff. Submissions are also being accepted at Ape Entertainment’s website here, where a complete set of submission guidelines can be found.
