Jones on Blade

With ‘BLADE: The TV Series’ set to bust down the door this Wednesday, what better way to hype the arrival of the series to SpikeTV than to hear from the man himself? And no, it’s not Wesley Snipes.

Kirk Jones aka Sticky Fingaz aka Blade sat down with Blackfilm.com to chat about the project, as well as other things. Despite what some people think, Jones wasn’t the only one in line for the job (“Not only did I have to audition for it, I had to fight for it. It’s not like they handed it to me or anything.”). In the audition process, Jones says that while the studio didn’t have him going through a physical or anything of that nature, they did inquire about his background (“…fighting and gym and stuff like that.”)

With regards to taking over from Wesley Snipes (who after BLADE TRINITY was a little more than miffed at New Line), Jones compared it to Christian Bale taking over from Michael Keaton for Batman, and that it was “wonderful to step into Wesley’s shoes”. And yes schmoes, he has seen all the films and read the comics to boot.
