Well here’s an interesting possibility. Over at Anime Nation last week they noted the following:
[Japanese animation studio] Gonzo is … reportedly developing an anime re-make of Dario Argento’s classic suspense/horror film Suspiria.
Now this is far from confirmed, and I usually try to stay away from rumors, but this would just be so damn intriguing if it happens that I had to share. The timing certainly works out perfectly with the final installment of the trilogy – THE MOTHER OF TEARS – finally going into production.
If done right, the hallucinatory quality of Argento’s work could take on a truly epic hellish life through the lack of physical constraints in animated works. The usage of a different medium from the orginal is why I find this idea interesting instead of just another mindless remake.
Expect to hear more if the project happens. Otherwise enjoy having a little Argento water cooler talk for the day.
