It’s been a long while since Kevin Bacon has been in a straightforward horror flick. To put it in perspective, Kev’s last horror flick was HOLLOW MAN back in 2000. Thrillers aside, what’s up wit’ dat?
Hollywood Reporter posted today that Bacon is returning to the genre, in the form of James ‘SAW‘ Wan’s DEATH SENTENCE for 20th Century Fox. The story centres on a father (played by Bacon) out for revenge after his family is attacked in a heinous gang-initiation crime. The father enacts a death sentence on each person involved in the crime. Ian Jeffers adapted the screenplay from Brian Garfield’s novel (Garfield also wrote the novel which was the basis for THE STEPFATHER). Filming is scheduled to commence this September, with a release next year.
Bacon in a revenge story? I think he could pull it off. Anyone who’s seen his stuff in HOLLOW MAN and STIR OF ECHOES knows the dude can play the dude on the edge role perfectly. No other casting news as of yet, so come on back for more in the future.
