I never did like I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER when it first came out. Aside from the fact that the raincoat is a pretty creepy slasher attire when you think about it, the film was another SCREAM clone. It did have Jennifer Love Hewitt, though. Then again, so did the craptacular sequel.
Just when you thought it was safe to venture out into direct-to-DVD land, along comes I’LL ALWAYS KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER, set for an August 1st release. Starring K.C. Clyde, Torrey DeVitto, Ben Easter, and Star LaPoint, the film is directed by Sylvain White, and centres on a group of teens who accidentally kill a friend in a 4th of July prank gone wrong. They all band together and decide to take there secret to the grave (sound familiar?). Little do they know that they really will be taking the secret quite literally to the grave as one year later the secret comes back for revenge.
The DVD, which I should tell you right now is overpriced when compared to the boxset of all three films that appears the same day ($24.96 compared to the set’s $39.95), comes with an anamorphic widescreen transfer and English Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Extras include commentary by director White and a ‘Making Of’ featurette. Sorry, but I think that my cash would probably be better spent on something else that day.
