Toothy trailer

Remember DARKNESS FALLS? You know, the story of The Tooth Fairy who has a bit of a problem with the inhabitants of a small town for torching her years back, and goes on a rampage because of it? Don’t feel bad if you don’t. Thanks to Sony Pictures and their infinite ‘wisdom’, the film was effectively neutered from what director Jonathan Liebesman had originally intended, including cutting out Stan Winston’s marvelous creature design almost entirely from the film in favour of cheesy CGI, and basically gutting the original idea in favour of the mainstream.

News surfaced a while back that the original story by Dan Farrand would finally see the light of day courtesy of director Chuck Bowman and a re-write by Stephen J. Cannell, and today Variety scored the trailer for said project, which will be released to DVD courtesy of the folks at Anchor Bay in the near future. The trailer is already on the latest MASTERS OF HORROR DVDs from the Bay, so those of you are keen on buying the DVDs have one more reason to do so.

Unfortunately, there’s no sign of the badass creature that fans have been hoping for (like the Movie Maniacs figure above), but that shouldn’t stop you from seeing the trailer here. The film stars Carrie Fleming, Nicole Muñoz, Jianna Ballard, Jesse Hutch, Peter New and Ben Cotton, with Peng Zhang Li playing The Tooth Fairy.
