News from MTV.com regarding Eli Roth’s remake of the 1956 horror classic THE BAD SEED is not good for the time being.
According to the article, Roth has put the film on ice for the time being while he concentrates on other projects, namely a sequel to last year’s HOSTEL. “The problem is, I love THE BAD SEED, but I just don’t know how I’m gonna do everything,” says Roth. “HOSTEL was originally going to be the movie that I was going to do between THE BAD SEED and CABIN FEVER. I’d just go and do this little film for 4 million bucks. And then HOSTEL opened at #1 and became the main focus. I love the project, and I’d love to do it, but at this point I don’t want to stop [the studio] from making it. It’s taking a back seat.”
The studio in question is Warner Bros., who are currently putting the finishing touches on THE WICKER MAN remake and M. Night Shyamalan’s LADY IN THE WATER at the moment. While I haven’t seen HOSTEL yet (college does that to you), I did boogie down to CABIN FEVER when it was released, so I guess waiting is the hardest part to see what Roth will come out with next.
