A new Elvira??

The times, they are a-changin’. The Hollywood Reporter dropped the news that Cassandra Peterson, better known to legions of fans and crumpled up pieces of tissue the world over as Elvira – Mistress of the Dark, is looking for a replacement.

The buxom lady of all things macabre has decided she doesn’t want to be walking around dressed up like Elvira when I’m 105 years old. Fair enough, but how do you find someone to take on such an iconic role? Through a reality TV show of course.

The show will be an unscripted project featuring contestants competing for a one-year contract to portray the character in various personal appearances. The contestants would be put through elimination challenges designed to parody some of the most popular reality shows but with a macabre twist, with Peterson (in character) serving as a sort of mentor — or “tormentor,” as she puts it — and judges making the final determination on who gets eliminated.

The producers compare it to multiple actors playing Batman over the years, although none of those folks – no not even Adam West – actually originated the character. So you’ve got two choices now, stare at pictures of the lovely Elvira and enjoy a blissful trip down memory lane, or spit bullets below on what you think about the whole thing.
