According to DavisDVD, fans of H.P. Lovecraft will finally be able to sleep easy.
BEYOND THE WALL OF SLEEP, directed by Barrett J. Leigh and Thom Maurer, will be heading to DVD June 6th after sitting on the shelf since its release for a couple of years.
For those not up to snuff on Lovecraft, the story centres on Joe Slaader (William Sanderson), a mysterious mountain man being held in the Ulster County Asylum after the brutal murder of his family. Edward Eischel, a young intern (played by newcomer Fountain Yount), sees something more than just an inbred monster in this new inmate, however. Instead, he sees him as the harbinger of some greater and much darker force. With bodies piling up, his job in jeopardy, and his sanity hanging in the balance he gives in to his obsession with tapping into Joe’s hidden power, risking all that he has along the way. For those keeping score, the film also stars effects master Tom Savini (in a cameo, no less).
Lionsgate Films will present the film in anamorphic widescreen along with Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround. Extras for the film include commentary by the directors, a ‘Talking Heads’ featurette (not the band), a storyboard gallery and a pile of trailers. Not bad for a film that’s taken a while to finish and shot on 35mm. To find out more on the film, check out the official site.
