Attack of the Kiwis!

My uncle who lives in New Zealand will get a kick out of this one.

In a press release from the New Zealand Film Commission (the same guys who helped Peter Jackson out with BAD TASTE) comes THE FERRYMAN, which according to the press release, follows in the footsteps of the classic horror films from the past. Directed by Chris Graham and written by STICKMEN writer Nick Ward, THE FERRYMAN stars John Rhys Davies (LORD OF THE RINGS), Kerry Fox (SHALLOW GRAVE), Tamer Hassan, Craig Hall, Julian Arahanga (THE MATRIX) and Lawrence Makoare (DIE ANOTHER DAY). The story for the film has a group of twenty-somethings who charter a boat into the South Pacific for the trip of a lifetime, before stumbling upon an evil that demands vengeance at any cost.

Producer on the film Matthew Metcalfe elaborates, [The film] is a return to the classic horrors of the late seventies and early eighties, such as EVIL DEAD, THE THING and THE FOG. A genre containing classic characters that we love and hate, an evil that will strike both the good and the bad with those classic one liners that come just before someone is dispatched to the afterlife.” Any film that pays homage to classics like EVIL DEAD and THE THING are instant lookers in my book! I’m psyched for this one already. Hopefully we hear more about the film soon.
