Ellroy takes Living

Holy shite! Check out this concept that New Line just picked up:

A promiscuous woman is captured and tortured by a serial killer. After surviving the ordeal, she has to figure out what happened because cops and even her friends think she fabricated the story.

How f*cked up is that? I love it! Project is titled LAND OF THE LIVING (expect that to change before it hits the screen for reasons I have illustrated at bottom), and will be adapted by James Ellroy from a novel by Nicci French. That’s right, James Ellroy, the writer behind L.A. CONFIDENTIAL. This will be his first adaptation of a book that he didn’t write.

Something about this whole concept just has me excited. It sounds dark, intense, and emotionally involving. It’s been a while since a genre piece really hit me where it counts – the gut. Maybe that bill’s about to be filled.
