I end up working at night a lot, so when I have an evening in and the wife says, “Let’s watch American Idol together,” I do it. And boy am I glad I did last night. The setting was Austin, TX – preliminary auditions.
As Simon, Paula and Randy (don’t pretend like you don’t know who they are) gave out their judgements on all the pop star wannabes, some enterprising genre fans actually attacked the auditions dressed as zombies.
You heard me right. A bunch of student zombies descended upon American Idol. Apparently UT grad Nick Muntean organized the event to draw attention to the brain-melting effects of television. I don’t much care about that, but I can definitely say that it was one of the best things that has ever happened on that show.
So let me give a hearty well done to everyone involved. I imagine Zombies Attack Idol will easily be one of my favorite random moments from 2006.
