More Resident Evil 4 news for ya!

According to Gamespot, the acclaimed fourth entry into the series has achieved the lofty Player’s Choice status from Nintendo (think Greatest Hits for the PS2 and XBOX). What this means for Gamecube owners that have been holding out for a price drop can rejoice, as the game will be repackaged with the new price of $19.99. This bodes bad news for PS2 owners, as their version remains $39.99. Then again, there’s no word on if the re-release for the Gamecube sports the extras added to the PS2 version (like the ability to play as Ada Wong, amongst other goodies).

As well, it appears that PC owners won’t be left out in the cold when it comes to RE4 goodness. The game is scheduled to hit the UK in late March, though there’s no word on this side of the pond as to when the game appears here. It most likely will, since the 3 previous main entries in the series all found their way to hard drives eventually. Capcom’s US branch hasn’t made an official announcement yet, but the key word is ‘yet’.

The game, which gave the series a much-needed boost, has been lauded by gamers and reviewers alike. Secret agent Leon Kennedy (who we last saw in ‘Resident Evil 2’), has been assigned the task of finding the US President’s missing daughter. His journey leads him to a mysterious village in Europe, where a new spin on an old evil has infested the inhabitants.
