Douglas gets Priest

Andrew Douglas, the director behind THE AMITYVILLE HORROR remake, has been tapped to helm PRIEST. The flick is based on a Tokyopop graphic novel that concerns a warrior priest who disobeys church law by teaming with a young sheriff and a priestess to track down a band of renegade vampires who have kidnapped his niece.

The pic will be produced by Sam Raimi, Josh Donen and Mike De Luca under Raimi’s new Sony based shingle. Overall the concept sounds like a blast. I just hope that Raimi works to deliver something that lives up to his genre past. He’s hit a pretty significant dry spell when it comes to his work in quality horror.
