Solstice still alive!

Our good bud Johnny Butane over at Dread Central sent word about BLAIR WITCH co-creator Daniel Myrick’s SOLSTICE, which has been bogged down lately. No word was coming from the studio as to the cause, so one of the writers stopped by to chat and give an explanation.

The film, it seems, was going to be shot in New Orleans, and we all know what happened there. Needless to say, with the cleanup in New Orleans now more or less getting the city back on its feet, SOLSTICE will still be shooting there. Why not shoot elsewhere, you say? There was talk of moving the shoot, but once screenwriters Ethan Erwin and Marty Musatov (along with Myrick) got wind of it, they dug in and insisted that the location was essential to the story, and that it was meant to be told in New Orleans. Way to go, guys! Stick it to ’em!

Still with the movie, casting has been given a boost with the addition of the very cute Danielle Panabaker, who is set to play the lead role of Megan, a girl who starts to uncover some very unsettlingly truths about her twin sister, who committed suicide a few months earlier. Panabaker’s work has mostly been in television, though she did star last year in SKY HIGH with Kurt Russell (where’s my SE DVD, dammit!) and in the Dennis Quaid comedy YOURS, MINE, AND OURS.
