
UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION kicked the shite out of the competition this weekend pulling in an impressive 27.6 million. Good news for fans of the franchise since the big opening weekend will go a long way towards getting the third chapter of the trilogy greenlit.
Also props to director Len Wiseman for keeping film costs at a reasonable $45 million, so that the road to profitability isn’t impossibly long. So far 2006 looks set to prove that horror still has plenty of juice in it, despite the attempt of lame remakes last year to make it look like the market had dried up.
